Unmerited Favour

The Expense of Grace.

Grace is simply referred to as unmerited Favour or favour that is undeserved. Grace as an acronym is God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. The cost of grace is the life of Christ.

Grace is not cheap. It is the most expensive item in the market place of humanity to eternity.

Though the most expensive and most costly but it is offered to humanity free at the altar of sacrifice at the cross of Calvary.

Mankind will labour and struggle and may end up in despair at the deficiency of grace but at the manifestation and appearance of grace one can have a leap of victory over many years of bondage to fear, frustration, feebleness and failure.

The Attributes of Grace

In the platform of grace effort, ability, strength, influence, affluence and power is negligent.

Grace can bypass your incapacity to increase your capability and upgrade your capacity. Grace is the power of emergence.

When grace is at work you cannot be concealed nor hidden. The grace of God can take a man out from obscurity and bring him to limelight.

Grace though may seem inexplicable but is experienced by those who have found Favour in the sight of God: Jacob I love and Esau have I hated.

God makes the choice not man. The choice of who enjoys and benefit from grace is God’s prerogative. He is the benefactor and we are the beneficiaries.

The Manifestation Of Grace

It is not who you are, it not who you know, it is not about where you are, it is not the product of location but whose you are and his choice of you. You have not chosen him but he has chosen you to go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit may remain.

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16 KJV

I believe in grace. The song writer wrote:

“Give me the grace to follow, Abundant grace to follow, Give me the grace to follow, Your grace is enough for me”.

It is all of grace. The voice of grace is louder than the shout of works. Of a truth, the voice of grace is louder than that of works.

The cost of grace is the life of Christ. Grace is free to the recipient but of great price to the the giver: God and his Christ (the anointed, Jesus).

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV

Grace eliminates the enthronement of strength and might. By strength shall no man prevail. “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail”. 1 Samuel 2:9 KJV

Grace is a “simplifier”.

It simplifies and create ease in the rugged paths of life. It strengthens the weak hands and the feeble kneels. This is confirmed in the holy writ,

Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein . No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there : And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away”. Isaiah 35:3-10 KJV

The prophet Isaiah proclaimed, “The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord , make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it”. Isaiah 40:3-5 KJV

In the same vein, the scriptures declares, “Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees”. Hebrews 12:12 KJV

Grace is a lifter.

It is God’s hand stretched forth for the Favour of humans. It is God’s out stretched hands toward the helpless.

Grace can be considered as help for the helpless who believes in God’s capacity for lifting. When grace is at work, ones capacity and capability will be increased.

Sometimes, it does happen for the one who was never prepared or may not have been aware of the efficacy of grace. Grace is a token of God’s goodness shown toward the helpless.

In the words of the psalmist, the scriptures declared, “Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it , and be ashamed: because thou, Lord , hast holpen (helped) me, and comforted me”. Psalm 86:17 KJV

Grace decreases labour and increases favour.

It exchanges shame with fame, ashes for beauty, mourning for joy and heaviness for praise. One sure way to attract the grace of God is by acknowledging and accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Surrender your life to his authority and live in obedience to his word.

Have you already given your life to Jesus? If you have done so, glory be to God. If you have not, this is an opportunity to do so NOW. And now that you have done so, welcome to the family.

Desire the grace of God, embrace it, treasure it and it will do you good.
